I'm not short, mama and mommy say I'm fun sized.

Santana was the first to arrive at the principal’s office. To be honest, she was hardly surprised anymore. Andrew was a Lopez at heart, and well, Lopez’ just had a knack for trouble. Papi told her it was like some sort of right of passage or something.

As she rounded the corner, she saw something that made her heart break and concern flood through her (But don’t tell anyone that, she’s still Santana Freaking Lopez, she doesn’t do soft). She could hardly stand seeing Berry get emotional, so seeing Mini-Berry crying basically turned her into a soft mush of sad ice cream. (Seriously don’t fucking tell or else)

“Hey Lucy.” Santana sat down next to the crying girl, who was currently balled up in her seat. Geezus, how is this girl so small? She looks like she should be starting kindergarten!

A sniffle and a sob later, the tiny girl looked up to her Aunt’s eyes, with all the sadness a six year old shouldn’t be able to have yet. At that moment, Santana promised herself she would take whatever made her little goddaughter cry to Lima Heights and back. No one messes with family.

“What happened, little girl?” She pulled the girl into her lap and cradled the child. Who the fuck would pick on someone so small and innocent? She was going to kill them!

“S-Someone…they said our family wasn’t normal. That me and A-Andy were freaks. I p-pushed him down a-and then he tried to punch me and then Andy s-said he was g-going to go all ‘Lima Heights’ on him and I-I don’t even know where that is! A-And…And…” The girl trailed off and continued to sob and hiccup into the Latina’s chest as Santana burst with pride. Yeah, that’s right baby boy! Take them all to Lima Heights!

“A-Auntie Tana?” The tiny voice broke her out of her reverie and she responded.

“Yes, baby girl?”

“We’re not…we’re not freaks are we?”

She looked into Lucy’s eyes and saw the defeated look in them. The fear. It reminded Santana of herself.

“Lucy, don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re a freak. You are not, and neither is your family. Love is love, and whoever else that say otherwise, well, tell them to go to hell and just feel sorry for them that they don’t have a kickass family that loves like we do, got that?” Santana smiled as a tiny smile emerged from the little girl’s own lips as she nodded. “Good. Now if anyone else picks on you, tell them you know the Lopez’ and you’re from a town called Lima Heights—”

“I get it, Auntie Tana.” She chuckled a bit and wiped the tears from her eyes, before hugging her Aunt again. “Also, mommy says you’re not supposed to say bad words in front of little kids like me.”

Santana rolled her eyes and smiled. Mini-Berry was exactly what her goddaughter was. “Our little secret, alright?”

And the next time they were called into the principal’s office, it was really no surprise to Santana that Lucy was called in for cussing out a student. A real prodigy.
